• Read and Re-read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action.

There were 7 calls to action related to Health Care.  #22 of the calls is the following:

"We call upon those who can effect change within the Canadian health-care system to recognize the value of Aboriginal healing practices and use them in the treatment of Aboriginal patients in collaboration with Aboriginal healers and Elders where requested by Aboriginal patients."

• Acknowledge the territory where you operate. Perhaps place a land acknowledgement in your setting or on forms. To write an appropriate Land Acknowledgement you can consult the First Nations Health Authority Territory Acknowledgement booklet

• Provide education on cultural awareness, intercultural competency, and anti-Indigenous racism to staff

• Listen and learn from Indigenous voices, ask patients is they have an Elder or Healer they would like you to collaborate with.

• Support and volunteer with Indigenous non-profits

• Attend a National Truth and Reconciliation Week Virtual Event
