Licensing

Anyone who practices chiropractic in the province of New Brunswick must be registered with the New Brunswick Chiropractors Association.

  • This application is for Canadian-educated applicants who are not yet licensed in Canada and have completed the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board (CCEB) exams (written and clinical) within the last year.

  • This application is for chiropractors who practice in another regulated jurisdiction in Canada

International Applicant

Temporary Permit

  • Chiropractors coming into the province for locums and or providing training must be approved for a temporary permit. Please contact CEO/Registrar Dr. Kelsey Nissen at knissen@nbchiropractic.ca for details.

Incorporation

NOTE : If you are considering incorporating your business under the Business Corporations Act of NB, please contact the NBCA and advise of your intent to do so. The Chiropractors Act of New Brunswick rules how the Corporation should be named, who must hold the majority of shares in the corporation, practicing members etc. This is an important step prior to applying to the province for incorporation. Once you have done so you can access the Provincial Incorporation Process at https://www2.snb.ca/content/snb/en/sites/corporate-registry.html or contact your lawyer for assistance.

NBCA Permit

A corporation incorporated under the Business Corporations Act may apply to the NBCA Board of Directors for a permit to carry on the business of providing chiropractic services to the public.

The following must be submitted:

• Professional Corporation Application Form 8;

• A copy of the certificate of incorporation of the company;

• A 200 application fee for the corporation permit.

Please allow for a minimum of four weeks processing time once all documentation has been received. Application fees are non-refundable.

Once satisfied and approved, a yearly permit shall be issued by the NBCA, valid from Jan 1 to Dec 31 of the given year.

Preceptorship

Preceptorships are being offered at various chiropractic educational institutions. A policy for guidelines as to the responsibilities of the licensed chiropractor, as well as the permissible acts allowed by the preceptor, was developed, and adopted by the Board in 2000 (updated in 2018). The New Brunswick Chiropractors’ Association (NBCA) reserves the right, without notice, to change, revise, or eliminate any information in this policy. Revised information may supersede, modify, or eliminate existing information. An up-to-date version of the most current policy will be maintained in the Association’s office and the Registrar. It is the responsibility of program participants to familiarize themselves with, and to ensure following, the most up-to-date policy.

Complaints

On occasion, you may have a concern about a chiropractor or a staff member of a chiropractic clinic; however, may be uncertain about how to proceed to address it or whether a formal complaint should be filed.

The New Brunswick Chiropractors Association works to improve the health of New Brunswickers by regulating, supporting and promoting excellence in chiropractic practice and patient care. The New Brunswick Chiropractors Association encourages patients who have concerns or questions about services rendered to first discuss these with the chiropractor. Your chiropractor will appreciate the opportunity to discuss any concerns or questions directly with you.

If you decide to proceed with a formal complaint, the complaint must be received in writing and must include both your name and the name of the provider, as well as date of the incident and relevant information. All complaints are taken very seriously and will be reviewed by the Complaints Committee.

For more information or to file a complaint, please contact the New Brunswick Chiropractors Association to discuss how to best proceed. The New Brunswick Chiropractors Association can be reached at comments@nbchiropractic.ca or by telephone at 506-455-6800.
